Antigua Torre de Control, Aeropuerto La Sabana
Before La Sabana was a metropolitan park, it was Costa Rica's primary airport. The Sabana Airport control tower was located at this building, as can be noted from the central tower design, overlooking the park.
The airport was built around 1910, with the first plane arriving in 1912. Regular flights continued until 1958, when the airport was closed and transferred to Alajuela, under the new name "El Coco" or "Juan Santamaria".
Currently an Art Museum is located in the building. Near the back, a sculpture garden can be found, with several pieces by famous sculptor Jorge Jiménez Deredia.
