The central offices of Correos y Telégrafos (CORTEL), now Correos de Costa Rica. Built by The English Construction Company, for close to a century this building has housed the state owned postal service.

The building clearly stands out due to the fine details in its architecture, which evoke the style of many European capitals. A strong contrast with the more modern Club Union building on the opposite side of the street, as well as the Central Bank on the adjacent block.

Originally light green, the facade has recently been painted in earth tones, which give it more weight and help to cut down on maintenance costs.
